Sustaining a Culture of Giving

Blog Feature Endof Year17

Erin Pittman, Project Lead

At Bowen, we work hard, play hard and give freely. Our core values are all built upon a culture of giving, where Bowen employees and executives support our local community, organizations around the world and each other. Our culture of giving doesn’t just come and go around this time of year, but rather extends into every month of every year. From corporate sponsorships to nonprofit drives, everyone at Bowen gets involved.

Through our in-kind donation drives this year, Bowen employees supported the Angel Tree by fulfilling Christmas wishes of two local children. We filled bins with new books, so the Book Buddies program at Rockhill Elementary School had plenty of fresh, new reading materials. And we provided school supplies for local children in need. Our employees are invested in their work and their community. With our carefully chosen, in-kind projects, we are pouring key resources into our area and changing the lives of our neighbors.

As a corporation, we’re proud to provide monthly monetary donations to the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank to help stop hunger. We support annual races through corporate sponsorship and employee participation, including Go For Bo and Laps for Lexi. And we provide monetary support to organizations like the American Veterans Ball, VETMotorsports, InSports Foundation, the American Cancer Society and South Shore Habitat for Humanity to fulfill their incredible missions.

These planned giving projects carry out our giving spirit throughout the year, but Bowen is also responsive to disasters and emergencies. Bowen reacted to the devastating destruction of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico through a Direct Relief donation to support their rebuild. After Hurricane Harvey, the company made a significant donation to the Houston Food Bank and organized a monetary drive for employees. As employees made contributions to the Houston Diaper Bank, The Bowen Group matched each one. Our employees and company teaming up continues to fuel our culture of giving. We all share in our mission of making an impact — and that makes all the difference.

The Bowen Group is a company filled with motivated employees. While each of us is dedicated to our mission of delivering superb communication products and services that delight our clients, we’re committed to even more than that. We work to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals, families, communities and organizations. Our President, Ray Babbie, is incredibly thankful to be part of an organization that helps so many people throughout the year. “The Bowen Group was founded to support the military community and does that through daily operations and sustained philanthropy. We are committed to giving to not only the military community, but also to local, national and even international communities that need funding to continue their missions to defeat cancer, feed the hungry, educate youth, support caregivers, and empower those less fortunate.  Giving is part of our culture,” Babbie says.

Our team is driven by doing what is right, and giving freely to those around us and around the world is what we believe in. Who we are is equally as important as what we do. And who we are is a values-led, generous group of individuals working together to make a difference through our work and our giving.
